33 year old Buxus Harlandii Bonsai
Species from Asia (China, Japan, Korea) belong to the Buxaceas family.
It is a persistent, compact, slow-growing Bonsai, the beauty of your trunk, silver-colored and with a thick, cracked peel are your main point of attraction.
The Buxus Harlandii Bonsai is a double location plant.
Common Name: Buxus Harlandii
Scientific name: Buxus Harlandii
Characterization: Originally from Hong Kong, it is a species that belongs to the Buxace family.
This perennial bonsai is known for its dense foliage and small dark green oval leaves, which give it a very elegant and distinctive appearance.
The flowering of the Buxus Harlandii occurs in early spring, with small yellow flowers, which, although discreet, add a special charm to the plant. Its wood is hard and tough, making it ideal for modeling in Bonsai.
Location: You can live in an interior next to a window well exposed to the sun with a minimum of 2 to 3 hours daily and without climatization, where it should be rotated 180° weekly.
It can also live all year abroad since protected from strong winds and frosts, it is very sensitive to the lack of direct sun.
Water: To water abundantly the earth until a lot of water goes out through the drain holes in order to moisten evenly the soil, always above never by immersion, with a fine drain waterer.
Tips on watering, see technical data collection.
Let dry slightly the surface layer of the soil between each watering (to confirm if the plant already needs water, touch the earth with the fingers).
If you have a dish under Bonsai, never leave any water in it (to prevent the roots from rotting).
There is no advantage in spraying the leaves, just do it in the days when it adds up and if the fertilizer goes for foliar application, but ensure that they arrive dry at night to avoid fungi.
Nutrition: From February to October/November, with a base plan composed of a complete fertilizer (Fertil Bonsai Humic, or Green & Gold Bonsai Organic or Biogold), and a biostimulant (Bio Bonsai Activ), can still be linked with other products in our range.
Detailed information on how to combine these products the rest of our range, or for a more specific nutrition plan, see complete nutrition plan technical sheet.
Poda: We grow 6 to 8 leaves, and then we lower by the first leaves.
Tips on pruning, see the technical sheet pruning and defoliation.
Transplant: With Terra Bonsai Folhosas in February/March, with strong pruning.
Details about transplantation, post transplantation and specific fortifiers that you can use refer to repotting technical sheet.
Scratch: It can be crowded all year.
