CATTLEYA ALLIANCE (BARKERIA, CATTTEYA, ENCYCLIA, EPIDENDRUM, LAELIA AND THEIR HYBRIDS)

Origin - They are epiphytic plants, native to South America and that prefer tropical and humid environments.

Light - They like anything from good light to partial shade without direct sun. If the plant’s leaves become very light, it may be receiving too much light. In winter, the plant can be exposed to more light.

Temperature and Humidity - Ideal temperatures range between 13ºC and 28ºC, although they can survive higher temperatures. Prolonged periods below 13ºC can be dangerous for the plant. Humidity should not fall below 50-60%.

Pots and Substrate - They are grown in plastic or clay pots, preferably with plenty of holes for aeration and drainage, or in baskets. We use the substrate Epiphytic Orchid Soil.

Watering and Fertilization - Watering depends on the type of pot used. In pots, weekly watering may be sufficient, but in a basket, watering twice a week is possible. These plants should only be watered when they are almost dry.

Fertilization should be biweekly, using
Nutri Orchids Humic Growth when the plant is developing new shoots and Nutri Orchids Humic Bloom as soon as buds appear and until the flower falls.

The bio-stimulant Vital Orchids Activ should be applied year-round every two weeks; it can be applied in the same watering as the fertilizers (respecting the doses of both for 1 liter of water) or separately (alternating one week fertilizer, next week fortifier).
