ALLIANCE OF DENDROBIUM AND ITS HYBRIDS
Origin - Native to the Asian and Australian continents. Orchids of this species can be found in a wide variety of habitats. The hybrids are generally of two distinct types, Dendrobium nobile and Dendrobium phalaenopsis (or D. bigibbum).
Light - They like a lot of light without direct sun. In winter, when many Dendrobiums lose their leaves and enter dormancy, they should receive as much light as possible. In the warmer season, when they are growing, they should be protected from the strongest light.
Temperature and Humidity - The ideal temperature ranges between 8ºC and 28ºC. Very few Dendrobiums grow continuously throughout the year. Most suspend growth in the colder season, tolerating 8-10ºC during the coldest nights. At this time, plants are protected from humidity and frost.
This cold phase is very important to stimulate flowering. If the plants are in a very humid environment during the cold season, besides risking root system loss, flowering can also be lost.
Pots and Substrate - In nature, Dendrobiums are epiphytic plants with their pseudobulbs hanging. In our homes, especially large plants, they are grown in small pots with Terrestrial Orchid Soil.
Watering and Fertilization - They should be abundant during the hottest period, which coincides with the plant's growth phase, when we should use Nutri Orchids Humic Growth. In the dormancy period (winter), watering and fertilization are suspended. When floral buds begin to appear and during flowering, we should use Nutri Orchids Humic Flowering.
We should apply the biostimulant Vital Orchids Activ every two weeks, all year round except during dormancy. It can be applied together with the fertilizers (respecting the doses of both for 1 liter of water) or separately (alternating one week fertilizer, another week fortifier).
