The Shohin caliber, about 2 mm, is suitable for cultivating emphasis plants, very small Bonsai (mame or Shohin), and as a surface soil cover to aesthetically enhance appearance.


Ibaraki Brand Akadama - Hard Quality, very resistant.


It has a neutral pH, is sterilized and free of seeds and weeds, and due to its physical characteristics it does not clump (does not form mud).


In Japan, it is used to plant all deciduous and evergreen leafy species; it is also mixed with Kiryuzuna to increase moisture retention in some conifers (e.g., Juniperus).


Akadama is also widely used in aquaristics (planted aquariums).
