These trays are made in Yixing, the Chinese capital of quality ceramics for Bonsai.
The trays serve the purpose of physically protecting the areas where the Bonsai is located, and are not meant for watering; water at the bottom of the tray can cause root fungi.
There should never be any water, no matter how little, left in the tray after watering, and if you have a Bonsai with a tray outdoors during rainy periods, remove or turn the tray upside down.
Given the artisanal nature of the pots, there may be slight differences in the pot’s dimensions or slight variations in tone.
