Common Name: Citrus Limequat

Scientific Name: Citrus Limequat

Description: Originating from Asia, it belongs to the Rutaceae family, and is the fruit of a cross between a limonella or a lime, and a kumquat.

It has evergreen leaves, oval, about 3 cm long, dark green in color, a fragrant white flower that blooms in the summer months and becomes an oblong fruit, about 3 to 5 cm long, which when ripe is a bright yellow color.

Location: In Mediterranean and mild climates, it should live outdoors all year round as long as it is protected from strong winds and frost, requiring at least 2 to 3 hours of direct sunlight, and should be rotated 180° weekly.

In areas with harsher winters, it is advisable to protect it during the coldest months, in an indoor area but without any type of climate control (e.g., a sunroom), placed near a window well exposed to the sun with a minimum of 2 to 3 hours, and it should be rotated 180° weekly.

Watering: Water the soil abundantly until a good amount of water runs out from the drainage holes, in order to uniformly moisten the soil, always from above and never by immersion, using a watering can with fine nozzles.

Allow the surface layer of the soil to dry slightly between each watering (to confirm if the plant needs water, touch the soil with your fingers).

If you have a tray under the Bonsai, never leave any water in it (to avoid root rot).

There is no benefit in misting the leaves; only do so on days when you fertilize and if the fertilizer is for foliar application, but ensure the leaves dry by night to avoid fungi.

Nutrition: From February to October/November, follow a basic plan composed of a complete fertilizer (Fertil Bonsai Humic, or Green & Gold Bonsai Organic or Biogold), and a biostimulant throughout the year (Bio Bonsai Activ), which can also be combined with other products from our range.

Pruning: Let 6 to 8 leaves grow, then reduce back to the first leaves.
