Buxus Harlandii Bonsai 21 years old
Species originating from Asia (China, Japan, Korea) belongs to the Buxaceae family.
It is a Bonsai with persistent leaves, compact and slow growth; the beauty of its trunk, silver in color and with thick, cracked bark, is its main attraction.
The Buxus Harlandii Bonsai is a plant with dual placement.
Common Name: Buxus Harlandii
Scientific Name: Buxus Harlandii
Characterization: Native to Hong Kong, it is a species that belongs to the Buxaceae family.
This evergreen bonsai is known for its dense foliage and small dark green oval leaves, which give it a very elegant and distinctive appearance.
The flowering of Buxus Harlandii occurs in early spring, with small yellow flowers that, although discreet, add a special charm to the plant. Its wood is hard and resistant, making it ideal for shaping in Bonsai.
Location: It can live indoors near a window well exposed to the sun with a minimum of 2 to 3 hours daily and without air conditioning, where it should be rotated 180° weekly.
It can also live outdoors all year round as long as it is protected from strong winds and frost; it is very sensitive to lack of direct sunlight.
Watering: Water the soil abundantly until a lot of water comes out of the drainage holes, in order to moisten the soil evenly, always from above, never by immersion, using a watering can with fine holes.
Tips about watering, consult the watering technical sheet.
Allow the surface layer of the soil to dry slightly between each watering (to check if the plant needs water, touch the soil with your fingers).
If you have a tray under the Bonsai, never leave any water in it (to prevent the roots from rotting).
There is no advantage in misting the leaves; only do so on days when fertilizing and if the fertilizer is for foliar application, but make sure the leaves dry by night to avoid fungi.
Nutrition: From February to October/November, with a base plan composed of a complete fertilizer (Fertil Bonsai Humic, or Green & Gold Bonsai Organic or Biogold), and a biostimulant (Bio Bonsai Activ), which can also be combined with other products from our range.
Detailed information on how to combine these products with others from our range, or for a more specific nutrition plan, consult the complete nutrition plan technical sheet.
Pruning: Allow 6 to 8 leaves to grow, then cut back after the first leaves.
Tips about pruning, consult the pruning and defoliation technical sheet.
Repotting: With Terra Bonsai Folhosas in February/March, with strong pruning.
Details about repotting, post-repotting care, and specific fortifiers you can use, consult the repotting technical sheet.
Wiring: Wiring can be done all year round.
Instructions on wiring, consult the wiring technical sheet.
